Representatives from Sinopec Tech Middle East LLC (STME) attended the First DGYM Annual Conference at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Thuwal on 28 September 2025. The conference was organized by Prof. Bicheng Yan, Director of the Deep Geo-Energy & Engineering Modeling Lab (DGYM) at KAUST.
DGYM is a multidisciplinary research lab affiliated with KAUST’s Physical Science & Engineering Division and the Ali I. AI-Naimi Petroleum Engineering Research Center (ANPERC). The lab focuses on advanced numerical simulation and data-driven modeling of subsurface fluid flow in porous media, with applications in geological carbon storage, hydrocarbon recovery, geothermal energy, and hydrogen storage. The annual conference provides a key platform for fostering collaboration between academia and industry, and for discussing cutting-edge research and innovations in sustainable subsurface energy.
At the conference, discussions focused on data-driven collaborative modeling, physics-informed simulations, and practical applications in carbon, hydrogen, geothermal, and oil & gas sectors. The STME team actively participated in the proceedings, including a panel discussion, and shared their insights on integrating data-driven modeling with industry practices.
Participation in the DGYM Annual Conference strengthened STME’s engagement with the global research community and further reinforced the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable subsurface energy solutions, promoting technical excellence, and fostering industry-academia collaboration in the Middle East.
