Recently, Sinopec Tech Middle East (STME) and the College of Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences (CPG) at KFUPM held a high-level strategic meeting at Dhahran Techno Valley. The discussion aimed to advance industrial–academic collaboration and accelerate technology scaling and commercialization.

The meeting was opened by Dr. Ali Alyousef, Dean of CPG, who welcomed the STME delegation led by Dr. KE Ke, Vice President of STME. The discussion reflected the strength of the ongoing relationship between both institutions and the shared ambition to elevate collaboration toward structured industrial impact.
The engagement comes at a pivotal moment as Dhahran Techno Valley continues its transformation into a fully integrated innovation hub — one that moves beyond co-location to enable structured collaboration, technology scaling, and commercialization.

During the closed strategic session, both sides aligned on several priority areas:
Launching Structured Industrial R&D Programs: Addressing targeted applied technical challenges through joint efforts between STME and CPG.
Activating Commercialization Pathways: Leveraging DTV as a scaling platform in alignment with strategic partnerships, including Saudi Aramco.
Expanding Value Creation: Moving beyond academic publications to capitalize on CPG’s portfolio of 47 technologies (TRL 4 and above).
Enhancing Talent Engagement: Strengthening industry–academia integration for students and professionals within the DTV ecosystem.
As a key tenant at Dhahran Techno Valley, STME remains committed to building an open, collaborative innovation network across Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East. This meeting marks the beginning of a new, more systematic phase of cooperation. Moving forward, both parties will further align resources and objectives to translate technological capabilities into scalable solutions and tangible industrial value, contributing to the Kingdom’s evolving innovation ecosystem.
