CPG-Sinopec-DTV Technology Commercialization Workshop

The workshop was opened by the master of ceremonies, Mr. Ibrahim Alghamdi, with an inaugural speech from Dr. Ali Al-Yousef, Dean of CPG, who presented the CPG Technology Direction Portfolio, highlighting strategic research priorities, innovation programs, and collaboration opportunities between academia and industry.

Dr. Ding Shidong, President of STME, delivered the welcoming speech and presented an overview of STME’s achievements, ongoing R&D initiatives, industrialization programs, and the company's role in supporting technological advancement and localization in Saudi Arabia's energy sector.

Mr. Ahmed Al-Fadhel, Executive Director of Innovation and Commercialization in DTV, also served as a keynote speaker, sharing insights on industry collaboration, technology commercialization, and the importance of strengthening partnerships to accelerate the deployment of innovation.

One of the major highlights of the workshop was the panel discussion titled “Accelerating Energy Technology Deployment Through Integrated Innovation Ecosystems.” The session, moderated by Dr. Eassa Abdullah, featured Dr. Ali Al-Yousef, Dr. Ding Shidong, Mr. Ahmed Al-Fadhel, and Mr. Sun Wenjun. The discussion focused on bridging the gap between research and commercialization, promoting technology transfer, and enhancing cooperation between universities, technology centers, and industry stakeholders.

The workshop also included technical presentations and knowledge-sharing sessions. Dr. Jose Davalos moderated the session from Dr. Fahad Khan on Thermochemical Fracturing Technology, where participants discussed advanced stimulation techniques aimed at improving reservoir productivity and operational efficiency, as well as the presentation from Dr. Muhammad Shahzad on Biodegradable Polymers for Upstream Applications, highlighting innovative polymer technologies designed to improve upstream performance while supporting environmental sustainability initiatives.

Dr. Xiao Deng also moderated the presentation from Dr. Mahmoud Abdulhamid on Date Palm Extract (DPLE) as a Drilling Fluid Additive in WBM, showcasing environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives for drilling operations using locally sourced materials.

Guests also toured the Exhibition Hall and the Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC) of STME, where Dr. Eduardo Silva and Dr. Rami Albattat introduced R&D collaborations and developments, advanced digitalization technologies, and monitoring systems developed by Sinopec.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Ms. Najla Sahel Abdul Jawad delivered a thank-you speech, expressing appreciation to the speakers, guests, organizers, and participants for their valuable contributions to the success of the event and emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration between academia and industry.

The workshop concluded with discussions focused on strengthening future partnerships, advancing research collaboration, and accelerating technology innovation within Saudi Arabia's energy sector.
